Pasta Arts Challenge – May Magazine

As part of the May Magazine about “Our Multicultural School”, we held a mini arts challenge: create a 2D reproduction of a famous building/monument of the world with pasta!

We received entries from 8 participants. They were all very inventive and beautiful, which made it hard to judge!

As decided by the magazine journalists’ vote, the two joint winners of the arts challenge were: Lili, Y2 and Isla, Reception. Well done Lili & Isla! and a big thank you to all participants!

Our Multicultural School – May Magazine

St Matthews’ pupils, from Y1 to Y5, have published a magazine which celebrates the wonderful cultural diversity at St Matthews. The theme was “Our Multicultural School”.

The magazine includes one page per continent, as well as an activities page with games and a foodies corner with international recipes suitable for mini-chefs.

The magazine also includes the results of a Mini Arts Challenge, art made from pasta! Check out the results on this page

If you would like to get a copy, have any query, or if you are interested in joining the journalist team for the next edition of the magazine, please email:

Urgent Update on School Funding

School funding this year is once again not keeping up with significant increases in costs that schools face.  Funding for St Matthew’s has fallen in real terms again this year. The school has made many cuts and efficiencies in response to years of underfunding, but there are limits to how much can be cut without impacting our children’s education.

Our School needs You!

Please help the PTA to help the school thrive!

As the summer approaches we have a number of PTA members leaving the school or stepping down after multiple years. The PTA needs volunteers to join the PTA Committee and Core group to continue our work.

If you think you can help then get in touch!

Whatever time you have available we can put it to good use. Thorough handover and support will be provided.

You can shape your own role, share your vision, contribute your skills and lead with your ideas. Together we can fundraise, provide community activities and enrich the school’s community life.

Please join, you can make a difference!

Year 6 Leavers’ Hoodies – a big thank you!

Thanks to everyone who has sent us feedback on the Leavers’ hoodies – it’s great to hear that they are being enjoyed.

Sending a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who ‘paid it forward’ by making a donation to help us cover the cost of ensuring that every Year 6 who wanted a hoodie was able to get one. We really appreciate your help in making that happen.
